The next morning the rain had stopped and the mountains were illuminated wonderfully by the sunrise. Unfortunately we hadn't known that it was a self-catering hut, which means there is dinner in the evening but no breakfast in the morning. Thus I had a hungry start to the day.
In the beginning the trail leads slightly upwards in the Valley Maighels, is very steep for the last part and leads you to the Bornengo pass (2631m) in 2 ½ hours. As the weather was no longer pleasant, we just had a short midday break and then continued for the next 2 ½ hours to the Cadlimo hut (2570m). The difference to yesterday's hut couldn't be greater. The Cadlimo hut is big and there was much activity, as at a fair. After a short break, Pascale, Bernhard and I started for Piz Cunera (2796m). I took the photos while Pascale and Bernhard climbed the summit. I suffered from a headache, because of having missed breakfast. Just like the day before, the weather was turning bad again and so our way back was made in a hurry. Yet we reached the hut with dry feet just before a hailstorm covered everything with ice within a few minutes.
